When We Are Closed

If you are unwell at any time when the surgery  is closed you should ring 1-1-1.

Calls to NHS111 service are free from both landlines and mobiles (although pay-as-you-go mobiles must have at least 1p credit)

This number connects you to a call centre and your details will be taken and passed to a doctor or nurse who will ring you back and decide the most appropriate form of help. Depending on the severity of your problem you may:

  • receive advice over the telephone, which may include making a routine appointment at the practice within a specified time period
  • be asked to visit the local Urgent treatment centre which could be Boscombe and Springbourne Treatment Centre or Providence Surgery 12-14 Walpole Road (from 23.11.19)
  • receive a visit from a doctor, paramedic, nurse or emergency care practitioner

Please note this service is for urgent medical problems only. It is not for routine enquiries such as repeat prescriptions, booking appointments or test results.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
